Drew Smith grew up on a ranch in central Montana, the youngest of three boys, setting the tone for what his life would become. After graduating high school, Drew looked to the broader world, traveling through the American West and across the globe. Over the past 13 years, Drew has rarely stayed in one place for very long, trying his hand at everything —commercial fisherman, English teacher, wildland firefighter, wilderness therapist, search-and-rescue professional. The one common thread is his desire to capture passionate people in their element through photography.

Drew’s love for climbing began after he broke his back skiing. He discovered the movement of climbing to be therapeutic for both his body and mind, and he soon found his people in the climbing community.

Drew’s work is an attempt to capture the raw, real, and genuine aspects of the world that continue to inspire him each and every day.
