2017 Thin Skin Batch #1 Wild Ale fermented with pinot Noir Grapes
Firestone Walker was born in the vineyards of Santa Ynez Valley in 1996 and Barrelworks carries on the tradition of working with and learning from our cousins in the wine sector. For this collaboration, we tapped into Drake Whitcraft of Whitcraft Winery, a small artisan family in Santa Barbara County. For Thin Skin we used 2015 freshly pressed Pinot Noir grape skins and fermented them with one of our wild beer creations in 100% American Oak barrels. The result is delicious: toasty oak, cinnamon and leather tussle with hints of sage. Floral notes of rose mingle with dried strawberry and pepper flavors, supported by an erthy yeasty nose. Velvety tannins give way to a wonderful acidity and carbonation. Santé!
