From the Barrel

Friday April 5, 2013 7:00pm - 10:00pm
at the historic santa margarita ranch

From the Barrel is one of the most unique events on the Central Coast that celebrates the end of Prohibition and embraces the finer things in life.  We are bringing together some of the finest Bourbons, Ports and barrel-aged beers  for your discerning palate and pairing these excellent libations with fare from some of the best restaurants the Central Coast has to offer.

Live music throughout the night by Hot Club of SLO will  tantalize your senses and the historic Santa Margarita train will be running every 20 minutes to offer tours of the property with additional libations and bites on board!  Document this momentous occasion in your 20's finest with the vintage Bluesteel Airstream photo booth.  This event sells out every year, don't miss out on the celebration of a life time!

From the Barrel benefits the local Woods Humane Society, an organization dedicated to the humane treatment of local San Luis Obispo animals in need of care and a place to call home.  This organization is volunteer run and depends on funding from sponsorship, donations and grants, we are proud to support and help out this cause to help our four legged friends.

Cheers, we'll see you there!

2012 Recap:

From the Barrel is one of the most unique events on the Central Coast that celebrates the end of prohibition and embraces the finer things in life. We are bringing together some of the finest Bourbons, Ports and Barrel-aged beers for your enjoyment and pairing these excellent libations with some of the best restaurants on the Central Coast, plus great live music by the Tipsy Gypsies.

Already committed to this year's festival are Crooked Stave, Jolly Pumpkin and Ballast Point Brewery, who will be bringing a rum barrel-aged barleywine and the rum that was originally in the barrel, Russian River and Lost Abbey will both be reprising their appearances.

From the Barrel is a celebration of the Cullen-Harrison Act, which effectively ended prohibition in the United Sates.  Passed on the 20th of March 1933, it went into effect on April 7th, From the Barrel falls right between those two dates on March 30th. The Santa Margarita Ranch is the perfect setting for this event, the ambiance of this historic building pairs perfectly with the libations, food offerings and spirit of the event.

Be sure to don your glad rags and bust out that flapper dress and wing-tipped shoes and dress to impress, you don't want to be the only one not in on the rub.

Be sure to make arrangements for a lift from the Ranch if you become ossified, we don't want you to get on the lam. We will be calling taxis to set up rides for people that need them. There will also be shuttles from Pappy McGregors in SLO (please park in front of the building on the street) and our Brewery starting at 6pm provided by the Wine Wrangler.  Be safe, plan ahead.

Just like last year this event is a benifit for Woods Humane Society.
